Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!  I imagine many of you are enjoying the time off from work today for this federal holiday.

Family-Friendly Things to Do in Florida

Here are  just some of the fun community activities that you and your family can enjoy this week in the Palm Beach, Florida area:

Flagler Museum Music Series: Teach your kids about the beauty of chamber music by bringing them to this impressive musical series.  Concessions will be served on all performance dates.

  • When: All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. The dates are Jan. 10, Jan. 24, Feb. 7, Feb 21 and March 6
  • Where: Flagler Museum, One Whitehall Way in Palm Beach, Florida

Historical Exhibit: Learn about the important role that children had during various times in history, from the age of Queen Victoria to today in this exhibit titled “Through the History of Childhood.”  This exhibit features 200 works of art, including photography and sculpture.

Art Palm Beach: Come check out an array of works from local and international artists, photographers, sculptures and more at this annual celebration of the arts.

  • When: Jan. 19 to 2
  • Where: Palm Beach County Convention Center, 650 Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach, Florida
  • Admission: One day pass: $10 in advance, $15 at the door; Multi-day pass: $15 in advance, $20 at the door; Children under 12 accompanied by adult, free.

 Stringed Instrument Workshop: During the third annual “Fretmentor’s Banjo, Guidar, Mandolin & Fiddle Workshop,” participants can learn about the fine art of stringer instrumentation. They’ll also receive hands on instruction from three of the finest professionals in the business: Alan Munde, Byrone Berline and Jim Hurst.

  • When: January 28 and 29
